Welcome Newcomers!

Christ Church, Frederica extends a loving welcome to you. Our prayer book reminds us to "respect the dignity of every human being," and we invite all to be embraced by Christ's love through our love for one another. We seek to be a community where those who seek God can find acceptance and forgiveness, not judgment or condemnation. Baptized Christians of any denominational background, including children of all ages, are welcome to receive communion. Children who do not take communion will receive the priest's blessing. If you come for a visit, please fill out a visitor card (located in slots on the back of pews), stick around a bit so we can get to know you at our Coffee Hour held in our Parish Hall after the 9:15 service but before the 11:15 service. If you're interested in learning more about our parish, note that on the card as well and place it in the collection plate. We'll then mail you a newcomer's packet and give you a call to see if you need any additional information.

If you need counseling or would like information on baptism, marriage, or confirmation in the church, please contact us for more information.

If you are new to the Episcopal Church, be sure to check out our links (above left) detailing the Episcopal Faith to learn more information about our beliefs and worship style. But just to give you a general idea, actor Robin Williams refers to the Episcopal Church as "Catholic Lite". We are similar to the Roman Catholic Church in the structure of our worship service and our use of the sacraments. However, we are a protestant church, which means we do not recognize the authority of the Vatican. The Episcopal Church also ordains women as priests and allows priests to marry. We are taught to thoughtfully consider tradition and reason, as well as scripture, in our decision-making.

Active members of the Episcopal Church attend church faithfully, make their communion regularly at worship services, participate in parish activities, and support the church's ministries through a financial pledge. At Christ Church Frederica, we have many lay ministries open to all parishioners. Faithful volunteers contribute to the congregation and the community by dedicating their efforts to educating children, singing praises, and serving those in need. You'll also find parishioners serving at the altar, at the bedside of the sick, and in the homes of shut-ins.

We'd like to meet you and help you find ways to both serve and be served among us. Come and join us for worship next Sunday!
